“Red.” Eli's voice sounded from the doorway.

The fourteen year old did not turn around. Instead, he continued to stand amongst some storage containers strapped down in the cargo bay humming a strange melody. The metal grating of the floor was unforgiving under his bare feet, but he stepped about slowly as if he was savouring the sensation. He wore only a grey and silver flecked cloth sarong style around his waist.

“What are you doing?” The curiosity pitched the boy's voice a note higher.

“I was imagining myself floating in space without the ship here.” Red Skye replied to the boy two years his junior.

“Weird.” Eli stated. “I was bored and wanted to see if you wanted to play daijah or something.”

“I don't like that game anymore.” The lithe youth turned his light brown frame towards his paler friend and saw that Eli was dressed in long pants and a tunic like shirt, both made from a dusty beige fabric. By the look on Eli's face he was crestfallen. Red knew that being the youngest on the ship was hard for the boy. He suggested something else.

“Want to see if we can jump across the bay without touch the floor?” He pointed towards the tops of a few stacks of containers.

“Let's pretend the floor is lava and if we touch it we die!” Eli grinned.

“Sure!”
